Exhibition – Posters of Christo and Jeanne-Claude.
From the collection of Process –Space Foundation and Festival and private collection
The exhibition Posters of Christo and Jean-Claude presents posters with photographs of the artists’ joint projects realized by the end of the first decade of the 21st century. The works are emblematic - a good retrospective of the authors’ outdoor installations during that time. They impress with their scale, choice of location, long-term planning and design, and complex implementation. The life cycle of the work and characteristic creative directions of the artists are presented through different photographic perspectives.
The exposition presents articles from the first issue of the magazine "Art in Bulgaria", in which texts related to Christo were published in 1993, his communication with Bulgaria, his attitude towards the processes in the country, and the development of art. The texts are written by Bozhidar Boyadzhiev, Georgi Todorov and Dimitar Grozdanov. The articles are an important part of the contemporary artists’ community in Bulgaria, who in the early 90s of the 20th century anxiously expected a change in the overall attitude in society, culture and art circles. Christo's communication with the art critic Dimitar Grozdanov, editor-in-chief of the magazine and founder of the first festival of contemporary art in Bulgaria - "Process-Space", is crucial. The result of the correspondence are 16 posters, which Christo sends personally signed, for participation in the second edition of the forum in the town of Balchik, where they are displayed in the typical way for the author - packaged. In 1994 the exhibition was presented in Sofia and Skopje and in 1996 at the National Gallery in Prague with commissioner Elena Panayotova.
